Higher Education Options
There are multiple paths to a college degree. Florida has nearly 100 colleges and universities across the three major systems: the State University System (SUS), the Florida College System (FCS) and the Independent Colleges and Universities of Florida (ICUF). In addition, there are almost 50 technical and career colleges – also part of the FCS. No matter your goals, you can find an option that works for you!
State University System
Overview
- Public universities (e.g., UF, FSU, UCF)

- Offer bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral degrees

Florida College System

Independent Colleges and Universities of Florida

- Private, non-profit colleges (e.g., University of Miami, Rollins College)
- Vary widely in size, mission, religious affiliation
- Privately funded, generally higher tuition
- Typically smaller student bodies
