Where Do I Go For … ?

College might be the first time that you are fully responsible for every part of your life, and it’s not always an easy transition. Here’s our guide to where on campus to get the answers you need.

Who can help me if I’m feeling homesick, anxious, or depressed?
Call the counseling center for confidential support — right away.

Who can help me juggle a heavy workload or change my major?
Make an appointment with your academic advisor.

Where can I find help with a difficult roommate?
If you’ve been unable to talk things out with the person in question, try your resident assistant (RA).

What if I don’t understand something from class?
Head to the Learning Center (sometimes called a Writing, Tutoring, or Student Success Center).

If I fall behind in my work, do I have to withdraw?
No! First, reach out to your professor with a professional, candid email or during an office hours appointment. They’ll usually try to work with you.

How do I get a part-time job on campus?
Check on the school’s website or drop by the career center; they can connect you with available opportunities and help with interview skills.

What if I’m not feeling well?
Most campuses have a student health center that can diagnose and treat minor illnesses and injuries — or refer you to an off-campus specialist.
