Quit it!

Maybe it’s too late for you to avoid ever trying a tobacco product. But it’s never too late to quit! Kicking a nicotine addiction is notoriously difficult, so we have compiled some of the best tips and resources out there to help you quit and make it stick.

Step 1: Write down your motivation for quitting and put it somewhere you can see it.

Step 2: Set a date for a week or two in the future. That’s your Quit-By Date.

Step 3: Figure out what triggers you to hit your vape. Stress? Hunger? Boredom? Pay attention to your cravings and make a list.

Step 4: Plan how you’re going to ride out a craving — chew gum? Call a friend? Sing a song? Jumping jacks? You have to replace a bad habit with a good one.

Step 5: Start thinking of yourself as a person who doesn’t vape or smoke. Manifest it!

Step 6: Share your journey with friends, on social, etc. Let them hold you accountable for sticking to the plan.

Step 7: Use your resources. Go to teen.smokefree.gov, call 877-YES-QUIT, enroll in texts from This Is Quitting.

Step 8: Celebrate, and don’t look back! You did a really hard thing! And remember that if you do lapse back into the habit, you can start stopping again.
