“Bright Futures” is actually 4 different awards:

1. Florida Academic Scholars (FAS)
2. Florida Medallion Scholars (FMS)
3. Florida Gold Seal CAPE Scholars (GSC)
4. Florida Gold Seal Vocational Scholars (GSV)

FAS and FMS pay for tuition at any state school.

• FAS pays 100% of tuition and fees.
• FMS pays 75% of tuition and fees in the SUS or 100% in the FCS.

Awards in the same dollar amount (not percentage) can be used towards tuition at private colleges.

GSC and GSV pay for tuition in professional programs, like career certificate, applied technology, and technical education.

The criteria for the awards depends on GPA, SAT or ACT score, and number of volunteer hours

Bright Futures awards are also available to students who demonstrate academic excellence through one of the following:

1. National Merit Finalists and Scholars
2. National Hispanic Recognition Program
3. Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) Diploma
4. International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma
